Hi, I’m Alice 👋 a professional dancer, contemporary dance teacher and pilates instructor based in Cape Town. I specialise in creating bespoke first dance choreography for couples who want to feel confident and connected on their wedding day.

Dance has always been a huge part of my life, and I’m passionate about helping couples feel confident, comfortable, and genuinely excited for one of the most memorable moments of their wedding day: their first dance.

I created First Dance by Alice to make the process fun, relaxed, and completely personalised to each couple. Whether you want something simple and elegant, romantic and timeless, or a full wow-factor performance, I’ll help create choreography that feels natural to you and reflects your story as a couple.

It's not about perfect steps — it's about feeling unforgettable.

See it in motion

A first dance, brought to life.

From first conversation to the floor.

  1. Step 1 of 4

    Discover

We begin by discovering your song, your style, and the moment that matters most - creating a clear understanding of what feels natural and comfortable for you both on the dance floor.

  2. Step 2 of 4

    Choreograph

Together, we'll create a routine tailored to your song and designed around you both, with every step crafted to feel natural, flattering, and uniquely yours.

  3. Step 3 of 4

    Rehearse

Through private sessions at home or in studio, we'll patiently build and refine each step until your dance feels effortless, natural, and completely your own.

  4. Step 4 of 4

    Perform

On the day, you'll take the floor with confidence. The choreography fades, leaving only the moment to shine.

Song selection support

Not sure what fits? Alice helps you choose a piece that reflects your relationship — romantic, fun, dramatic, or completely unexpected.

  • Classic romance
  • Modern love songs
  • Upbeat surprise mashups
  • Cultural or traditional

Move with confidence

More than steps. A way to walk onto the floor.

Beyond the choreography itself, Alice prepares you for the three minutes around it — the entrance, the unexpected, the recovery.

  1. Mindset

    Calm before the music.

Your guests came to see your love, not perfection. Alice teaches you how to land in your body before the song begins.

    • A 30-second grounding routine
    • How to breathe through the opening bars
    • Cues for the moment your name is called
  2. On the floor

    Choreography that accounts for everything.

Trains, heels, jackets, applause, where to look. The small mechanics most couples don't think about until the night.

    • Movement shaped to your dress
    • Adjustments for heels and jackets
    • Where to look during the key moments
  3. If something slips

A safety net you'll never have to use.

Quiet recovery options built into your routine, so a missed step or a restarted song never breaks the spell.

    • Three freestyle moves that look intentional
    • How to skip ahead without anyone noticing
    • A smile cue to fall back on
Rob & Judi, February 2026

We arrived nervous and left rehearsing in our kitchen every night. Alice somehow made us look like ourselves, only better. Watching the video back is just the best!

  • Vicky & Jason

I have two left feet and I was terrified. Alice never once made me feel anything but capable.

  • Graham & Jess

She listened to the song with us for thirty minutes before showing us a single step. That care shows in every second of the choreography.

We didn't want a routine that looked rehearsed. Alice gave us something that felt alive, and entirely ours.

Also offered

Beyond the first dance.

Other moments Alice choreographs for couples and their families — quietly, and on request.

  1. 01

    Proposal choreography

A short, crafted moment that leads into the kneel — a flash mob with friends, a private beach routine, or a quiet dance that becomes the question. Music selection, rehearsals, and an optional filming plan included.

  2. 02

    Parent dances

Mother–groom, father–bride, or any combination that matters. A few sessions to create something tender and easy to remember, designed to feel like the relationship it celebrates.

  3. 03

    Bridal party routines

A surprise number with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, choreographed to be learnable in two or three rehearsals. Polished without being precious.

  4. 04

    On-site rehearsal

A final run-through at your venue, in your shoes, on your floor — so the entrance, lighting, and space feel familiar before guests arrive.

Pricing

Curated for you.

Most couples invest between R1,850 and R3,500 for a complete first-dance package. Add-ons and parent dances are priced individually. Full rates shared on request.

Things you might be wondering.

How early should we book?
Most couples book between three and six months out, but Alice has worked with couples in as little as four weeks. The earlier you book, the more flexibility you'll have on time slots and rehearsal schedule.
We've never danced together. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most couples haven't. Alice's process is built around beginners. The choreography is shaped around your bodies and comfort levels, not the other way around.
Do you teach in person or online?
Both. Rehearsals can take place in a privately booked studio, or in the comfort of your own home (Cape Town Only). Online lessons can be offered, however I do recommend at least one in person lesson before the big day.
Do you have to know the song already?
If you have a song, Alice will choreograph to it. If you don't yet, she'll help you find one that fits your wedding's mood and the way you both move.
How many lessons will we need?
Most couples need between four and eight lessons. After your first session Alice will recommend a number based on your comfort, schedule, and the complexity of the routine you'd like.
How much does it cost?
Lessons start at R650 per hour. Most couples invest between R1,850 and R3,500 for a complete first-dance package, depending on the number of sessions. Full rates and add-on pricing are sent through after your inquiry.
Do you choreograph proposals?
Yes. Alice crafts short, surprise routines that lead into the proposal moment — flash mobs with friends, a quiet dance that becomes the kneel, or a private piece on the beach or at a wine farm. Music selection, rehearsals, and a filming plan can all be included.
Can you choreograph parent or bridal party dances?
Often. Mother–groom and father–bride dances are common add-ons, and Alice also designs surprise routines for the bridal party that can be learned in one or two rehearsals. Mention what you have in mind in your inquiry and she'll come back with options.
